The Assemblée Nationale, or the National Assembly, stands as the lower house of the bicameral French Parliament, alongside the Senate. Established during the French Revolution in 1789, the National Assembly replaced the États Généraux, becoming the primary legislative body of France. Comprised of representatives elected by the people, the National Assembly is tasked with passing laws, overseeing governmental actions, and representing the interests of the French citizens. Playing a vital role in shaping French legislation, debating national policies, and scrutinizing governmental actions, the National Assembly's proceedings are integral to the democratic process in France. They reflect the fundamental principles of liberty, equality, and fraternity upon which the French Republic is founded.

Throughout our sessions, we will explore the intricacies of the French Revolution, meticulously examining the events leading to Marie Antoinette's trial, the trial proceedings, and its enduring implications.
